NEPAL SAFARI
Animal
Paradise
Located beneath the Himalayan foothills, in the
Gangetic plain, the dense jungles of Chitwan,
abounding with wildlife, seem to be something
straight from Rudyard Kipling's 'The Jungle Book'.
In fact, Chitwan, in the flat Terai region of Nepal,
was a fabled hunting ground of British Kings and
Maharajas alike! Today however, the wildlife is
protected in a National park and on Elephant Back
Safari the only thing you shoot from is a Camera.
Keep a safe distance from the Rhinos, Tigers,
Leopards, Sloth Bears, Gaur, Wild Pigs and
Crocodiles as you pass through jungles filled with
various species of deer, monkeys and over 400
different types of birds- the finest wildlife
experience in Asia! If you are lucky you may see
fresh water Gangetic Dolphins along some stretches
of river, while a number of small lakes provide
interesting viewing for Water Birds, and perhaps a
Greater One-Horned Rhinoceros going for a drink.
There are about fifty different species of mammals
and at least 67 different types of butterflies have
been spotted. Don't miss 'Elephant bath time'; say
chop to ask an Elephant for a trunk shower- or jump
in one of the many great swimming holes instead!
Untouched Wilderness
Journey into the remote past when you visit the
ancient jungles of the Royal Bardia National Park.
"Watching the sun rise over the forest from the back
of an elephant is like having a box seat at the dawn
of time." (Lonely Planet Guide Book). In the lush
jungles and open savannahs of the park, you have a
better chance of seeing a Royal Bengal Tiger than at
any other place in Nepal. Also look out for
Leopards, Jungle Cats, Mongoose, Sloth Bears, Blue
Cow, Langur, Rhesus Monkeys, Barking Deer, Wild
Hogs, Asian One-Horned Rhinoceros, about 250
different species of Birds, including some
endangered birds, and at least one Wild Elephant! In
the rushing Geruwa River can be found the famous
Mahseer Game Fish, Gharial and Mugger Crocodiles,
and the amazing Gangetic Dolphin! Bardia is similar
to Chitwan but much more isolated and far from the
crowds. Combining a trek through Bardia with a white
water rafting trip on the Karnali River is the
experience of a lifetime.
